The Barlow knife has unique characteristics with its longer bolsters which originated in the Stannington area of Sheffield in the 1700s.  The knife became particularly popular in the United States of America from around the mid-1800s and beyond.

It is handmade by our own craftspeople using traditional skills that have been passed down through the generations of Sheffield knife makers.  The Clip Point blade is mirror polished, high quality stainless steel – perfect for edge retention and easy to re-sharpen when it is needed.

The bolster is nickel silver, hand polished with the edges rolled so the knife feels great in the hand.  The bolster is proudly etched with Wostenholm’s famous I*XL trademark.  The handle is fitted with Sambar Stag Horn scales which is a dense robust material which dates back centuries, making it a popular choice amongst avid collectors.

Each knife proudly bears the George Wostenholm I*XL trademark.
