2.1 Acceptable Use

You may use the Site for lawful purposes only. When using the Site, you must not:
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site, our servers, or any account, system, or network connected to the Site;
  • introduce viruses, malware, or other material that is malicious or technologically harmful;
  • use any automated system, bot, scraper, or data-mining tool to access or extract data from the Site without our prior written consent;
  • attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with any age-verification, security, or fraud-prevention feature of the Site;
  • use the Site to transmit unsolicited advertising or promotional material;
  • misrepresent your identity or age, or provide false information at any stage, including at checkout or delivery; or
  • use the Site in any way that breaches applicable law, including laws relating to the purchase, ownership, or carrying of knives.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Site, cancel any pending order, and/or report the matter to the relevant authorities if we reasonably believe you have breached this Clause 2.1.

2.2 Availability and Accuracy

We aim to keep the Site available and up to date, but we do not guarantee that the Site, or any Content on it, will be available at all times or free from errors, interruptions, or delays. We may suspend, withdraw, or restrict access to all or part of the Site for business or operational reasons, including maintenance, without notice. While we take reasonable care over the accuracy of Content, general information on the Site (such as care guides, blog content, or historical/background material about knife-making) is provided for general information only and does not constitute professional or legal advice. Product-specific descriptions and pricing are addressed separately in Clauses 6 and 7.

2.3 Links to Other Websites

The Site may contain links to third-party websites (for example, payment providers, couriers, or social media). We do not control and are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or availability of any third-party website. Inclusion of a link does not imply endorsement. Use of any third-party website is at your own risk and subject to that site’s own terms.

2.4 Accounts

If you create an account on the Site, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login details and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account. We may suspend or close an account at our discretion, including where we reasonably believe it has been used fraudulently, to facilitate underage purchasing, or in breach of these Terms.

2.5 Reviews and User Content

If the Site allows you to submit reviews, ratings, or other content, you must ensure it is accurate, lawful, and does not infringe any third party’s rights. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, and display such content on the Site and in our marketing. We may remove any user content at our discretion, including content that is defamatory, offensive, unlawful, or promotes the unsafe or unlawful use of a Product.

3. Eligibility to Purchase – Age Restrictions

Anyone may browse the Site, but it is a criminal offence under UK law for a retailer to sell a knife or bladed article to a person under the age of 18, and it is likewise an offence for a person under 18 to purchase one. By placing an order for a Bladed Product on the Site, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old.

3.1 Point-of-Sale Age Verification

At checkout, you will be required to confirm your date of birth and to positively declare that you are 18 years of age or older. Placing an order constitutes a legal declaration by you that you meet this age requirement. We reserve the right to carry out additional age-verification checks at the point of sale, including electronic age-verification services, and to refuse or cancel any order where we are not satisfied that the Customer is 18 or over.

3.2 Point-of-Delivery Age Verification

UK law requires a separate and distinct age-verification check to be carried out at the point of delivery, in addition to the check carried out at the point of sale. A self-declared date of birth at checkout does not, on its own, satisfy this requirement. Accordingly, all orders containing a Bladed Product will be sent using a courier service offering an “age-verified” or “signature and age-verification on delivery” service (for example, Royal Mail Tracked with Age Verification or an equivalent service). The person accepting delivery must:
  • be aged 18 or over;
  • provide acceptable photographic proof of age (such as a passport, UK or EU photocard driving licence, or a PASS-accredited proof-of-age card) to the courier on request; and
  • sign for the parcel personally.
If no person aged 18 or over is available to accept and sign for the parcel at the time of delivery, or if the recipient is unable or unwilling to provide proof of age, the courier will not release the parcel. The parcel may be re-attempted, held for collection from a staffed depot on production of ID, or returned to us, and additional charges may apply. We are not liable for any delay, cost, or inconvenience arising from a failed age-verification check at delivery.

4. Delivery Restrictions

Because Bladed Products are subject to age-verification requirements at the point of delivery, orders containing Bladed Products cannot be delivered to:
  • parcel lockers or automated self-service collection points;
  • PO Boxes; or
  • any unstaffed or unattended collection point.
Bladed Products may only be delivered to a residential or business address where a person aged 18 or over can accept delivery in person, or collected from a staffed courier depot or Post Office branch on production of valid photographic proof of age. Please ensure the delivery address and any delivery instructions provided at checkout comply with this requirement. We reserve the right to cancel and refund any order where the specified delivery method or address does not permit compliant age-verified delivery.

5. Orders and Formation of Contract

5.1 Your order constitutes an offer to purchase Products from us. All orders are subject to acceptance by us. We may refuse to accept, or cancel, any order at our discretion – including, without limitation, where we have reasonable grounds to believe the Customer is under 18, where a Product is out of stock or mis-priced, or where we suspect fraudulent activity. 5.2 A Contract is formed only when we send you a Dispatch Confirmation email confirming that the Product has been dispatched. An Order Confirmation email is an acknowledgement of receipt of your order and does not, by itself, constitute acceptance. 5.3 We will assign an order number to your order and inform you of it in the Order Confirmation email. It will help us if you can tell us the order number whenever you contact us about your order.

6. Product Information and Availability

6.1 We take reasonable care to ensure that images, descriptions, and specifications of Products on the Site are accurate. However, Products are frequently collectable, vintage, or limited-edition items, and colours, finishes, and minor variations may differ slightly from images due to photography, screen display, or the handmade nature of certain items. 6.2 All Products are subject to availability. We will inform you as soon as reasonably possible if a Product you have ordered is not available and will offer a substitute, a delay, or a full refund. 6.3 Many Products are made to traditional patterns and specifications, and are of a quality suitable for genuine practical use as well as for collection and display. Products are sold for lawful purposes only, including collecting, display, and legitimate practical use (such as outdoor, trade, or craft use, where relevant to the item). Products are not sold, marketed, or intended for use as weapons, and must not be carried in public without good reason or lawful authority – see Clause 10.2.

7. Pricing and Payment

7.1 All prices on the Site are shown in Pounds Sterling (£/GBP) and are inclusive of UK VAT where applicable, unless stated otherwise. 7.2 Delivery charges are additional and will be clearly shown at checkout before you complete your order. 7.3 We accept payment via the methods shown at checkout, currently including Stripe and PayPal. Payment is taken at the time of order. 7.4 In the unlikely event that a Product is listed at an incorrect price due to a technical or human error, we reserve the right to cancel the order and issue a full refund, even if the order has been confirmed.

8. International Orders

We are based in the UK but we also accept orders for delivery outside the UK, subject to the additional terms set out on our dedicated International Orders page, which forms part of these Terms. You are responsible for ensuring that it is lawful for you to import a knife or bladed article into your destination country. Import, export, and possession laws relating to knives vary significantly between countries, and many countries restrict or prohibit the importation of certain blade types.
  • We do not accept liability for any Product seized, confiscated, or destroyed by customs or border authorities in the destination country.
  • We do not accept liability for any fine, penalty, or legal consequence incurred by a Customer as a result of importing a restricted Product into their country.
  • Customers ordering internationally may be required to complete additional age- and identity-verification steps.
  • The International Orders page will set out any countries to which we are unable to ship, courier partners used for overseas age-verified delivery, and applicable customs/duty responsibilities.
Full detail on excluded countries, customs duties, import taxes, and overseas delivery timeframes is set out on the International Orders page – please read this before placing an international order.

9. Your Right to Cancel (Consumer Contracts Regulations)

9.1 If you are a consumer ordering from within the UK or EU, you generally have a legal right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving your Product, without giving a reason, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. 9.2 To cancel, you must inform us clearly of your decision (for example by email). Full details of the cancellation process, timeframes, condition requirements, and refund handling are set out in our separate Returns Policy, which forms part of these Terms. 9.3 For hygiene, safety, and legal reasons, certain Products may be excluded from the right to cancel once unsealed or used, as detailed in the Returns Policy.

10. Lawful Ownership and Use

10.1 By purchasing a Bladed Product, you confirm that you are legally entitled to own and possess it in your jurisdiction, and that you will comply with all applicable laws relating to the ownership, carrying, and use of knives, including (in the UK) the Criminal Justice Act 1988, the Restriction of Offensive Weapons Act 1959, the Offensive Weapons Act 2019, and the Knives Act 1997. 10.2 It is your responsibility to know and observe the law relating to carrying knives in public in your area. In the UK, it is generally an offence to carry a bladed or sharply pointed article in a public place without good reason or lawful authority. “Good reason” can include use for a legitimate trade, hobby, or activity (such as fishing, hiking, or craft work), but does not include carrying a knife simply for self-defence or as a matter of habit. Whether a particular Product and a particular circumstance amounts to good reason is a matter for you to assess and, where relevant, for the courts to determine – we do not provide legal advice on individual cases. 10.3 You must not resell, gift, or otherwise transfer a Bladed Product purchased from us to any person under the age of 18. 10.4 We reserve the right to report suspicious orders (for example, bulk purchases inconsistent with personal use) to the relevant authorities, and to refuse orders that we reasonably believe may be intended for unlawful use or underage resale.

11. Delivery

11.1 Estimated delivery times will be shown at checkout and in your Dispatch Confirmation email. These are estimates only and not guaranteed delivery dates. 11.2 Risk in the Product passes to you upon delivery (i.e. once age-verified delivery has been successfully completed and the parcel signed for). Ownership of the Product passes to you once we have received payment in full. 11.3 See Clause 4 above for delivery restrictions applicable to Bladed Products.

12. Faulty, Damaged, or Misdescribed Products

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, Products must be as described, fit for purpose, and of satisfactory quality. If a Product is faulty, damaged in transit, or does not match its description, please contact us as set out in our Returns Policy. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

13. Intellectual Property

All Content on the Site, including text, images, logos, and product photography, is owned by or licensed to Durham Duplex Limited and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Except as necessary to browse the Site or place an order, you may not reproduce, distribute, publicly display, or otherwise use any Content from the Site without our prior written consent.

14. Privacy and Data Protection

We only use your personal information as set out in our Privacy Policy, available on the Site, which forms part of these Terms. This includes information collected through your general use of the Site (such as cookies and analytics) as well as information collected for the purpose of age verification, which we handle in accordance with data protection law and retain only for as long as necessary for legal and compliance purposes.

15. Events Outside Our Control

We will not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations, or in making the Site available, where such failure or delay results from events outside our reasonable control, including but not limited to strikes, courier disruption, adverse weather, internet or hosting outages, or changes in law affecting the sale or delivery of Bladed Products.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time, including to reflect changes in relevant legislation (such as knife-crime legislation), changes to the Site, or our delivery/age-verification processes. The version of the Terms in force at the time you use the Site or place an order will apply. The current version will always be available on the Site.

17. Complaints and Dispute Resolution

17.1 If you have a complaint, please contact us in the first instance using the details in Clause 19 below, and we will aim to resolve it promptly. 17.2 If we are unable to resolve your complaint directly, disputes will be resolved through the courts of England and Wales in accordance with Clause 18. We do not currently participate in an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) scheme.

18. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms, your use of the Site, and any Contract between us, are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms, your use of the Site, or any Contract shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
